Many of us are stuck in the same routine day in and day out. So we’re beginning a special series on how to see the city from an ew perspective. What better way to start than by hopping in a 4 seater Cessna plane and taking flight?

David Snell, with Starlight Flight, has been flying small planes like his current Cessna 172 for 22 years, so he was a pro at calming my nerves. We soared smoothly to several thousand feet in the air, circling over downtown Dallas, Fair Park and other sites in the DFW area. He describes his plane like sticking wings on the top of your car, except up in the air, you don’t have to worry about playing bumper cars with the SUV in front of you!

When you travel on a commercial flight, you’re looking through a tiny cubby hole to try and take in the sites. And take off and landing are fast, so your visibility is slim. Flying with David, I could see almost a 360 degree view of our metroplex!

Getting up in the air and traveling without worrying about traffic, deadlines or focusing on the road, allowed me to appreciate our great city, and see it from a different perspective.
